All roads leading to the United Nations' office was sealed in Srinagar to disallow separatists from marching towards it.
One civilian was killed and another injured after the army allegedly opened fire in central Kashmir's Budgam district following an incident of stone throwing on Friday afternoon.
A police spokesman told The Hindu that one civilian, identified as Tanveer Wani, a resident of Beerwah, was hit by a bullet in the head. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Another youth was also injured and hospitalized.
Preliminary reports suggest that the army patrol came under stone throwing during a shutdown being held in the valley against the another incident of civilian killing allegedly at the hands of the army on Tuesday earlier this week.
The army allegedly opened fire into the crowd in Beerwah. However, no clarification has been issued by the army over the incident.
Meanwhile, all roads leading to the United Nations' office was sealed in Srinagar to disallow separatists from marching towards it. Separatist leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, had called for a UN march against growing civilian killings in J&K.
The shutdown call, issued by the separatists, brought life to a standstill in the valley. A large part of the city remains under curfew-like restrictions.
